Northwest Florida Marine Education and Discovery of Gulf Ecosystems, Inc. (NWFL Marine EDGE) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2013. supporting existing programs at the Navarre
Beach Marine Science Station and expanding on those programs to a broader audience including visitors to Northwest Florida.
The Common Mission
The mission of the Navarre Beach Marine Science Station and NWFL Marine Education and Discovery of Gulf Ecosystems, Inc. is to promote the appreciation, conservation, and understanding of the marine ecosystem of coastal Florida through education, service, and science. The future Gulf Coast Discovery Center is the result of the overwhelming response to and continued growth of the Navarre Beach Marine Science Station.

Design and Permitting of the Gulf Coast Discovery Center
In April 2016, the Santa Rosa County Commissioners approved submittal of the Santa Rosa County Multi-Year Implementation Plan (MYIP) to the U.S. Treasury to include permitting and design of the Gulf Coast Discovery Center.
The Gulf Coast Discovery Center is Santa Rosa County’s #1 project for future RESTORE funding. The RESTORE Act allocates 80 percent of the amount of any Clean Water Act fines from the 2010 BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill to the Gulf Coast. The initial round of funding ($265,000) will be for Design, Permitting, and Estimate Development.
Construction of a 12,000 sq. ft. LEED certified, Marine Interpretive Center (Gulf Coast Discovery Center).
